Assos Mille GT Summer 2026 Collection: Assos have released their Mille GT range for the 2026 summer and our man in Spain, Alastair Hamilton, has been waiting for some good weather to give the kit a good ride in the sun. Summer is on the way.

Assos Mille GT Jersey S11 EVO
I’ll start with what I like the most about Assos jerseys; they seem to fit well. I guess it is due to the tailoring to the shoulder area, where there are two panels behind the neck, across the shoulders. The other thing is the ‘proper’ collar that comes up at the back at the back of the neck, maybe not as much as the Assos EQUIPE R Collection I reviewed last year, but still there is a collar. At the from it comes down to the top of the zip. The one thing I don’t like is the lack of a small zip pocket at the back. This is not a race jersey, so that little pocket is great for your cash and/or cards. We won’t let that put us off an otherwise top piece of clothing.
Nice shades with contrasting black pockets
Moving down from the collar, there is the full zip with a chunky Assos logo tab and a flap on the inside at the bottom. The sleeves are made of a smooth material, as opposed to the body of the jersey which is made with an open weave textile. The material on the rear of the jersey looks to be more open than the front, this makes sense to keep your back cool. Of course there will be the chance of sunburn through the jersey.
I’d rather be cycling than gardening
The back of the jersey is longer than the front, as is normal, and the three rear pockets are made of a different material on a patch of their own with double material for extra strength. The pockets do stretch, but not to the point of baggy. There is an elastic strip below the pockets which has silicon dots on the inside to keep it in place. At the opening of the pockets there is a substantial elastic edge so you will have no problem finding The Assos logos look a bit bigger this year, but they are subtle; one on the front of the left shoulder and another on the middle rear pocket, there is also a ‘MILLE GT’ tab just above the pockets on the right side seam.
The wind jacket folds up really small
The Assos Mille GT jerseys are available in seven colours all with a black pocket area and there are seven sizes. The materials and workmanship is of the highest quality with a lot of double overlock stitching, laser cut sleeves and extra strong seams at the pockets. Apart from the lack of a small rear zip pocket, the Mille GT jersey for 2026 is everything you need for the summer.

Assos Mille GT Bib Shorts S11
Assos shorts have been the preeminent bibs for many years, probably since the first lycra shorts appeared in in the peloton in 1976. I am old enough to remember those days and I always yearned for a pair of Assos shorts. This was not easy as they were hard to find in the shops and were out of my price range as a struggling young amateur rider on a low wage and rent to pay. Times have changed, but I always looked at Assos with desire.
Classic black, but there are four colours
OK, back to the Assos Mille GT bib shorts for summer 2026: Starting at the top with the straps, nice and wide, with a lot of strength and just the right amount of give not to cut in your shoulders. They also stay in place. Unlike many bibs there is no mesh area at the back, but there is no reason for it. At the back the straps are attached in two places and comes quite far down and are placed with a descent gap between them. At the front the straps are fairly wide apart and the front panel is low enough for a ‘comfort stop’ for the men. An ‘Assos’ logo on the right strap and ‘Mille GT’ on the left side strap.
One of the best chamois/seat pad
The shorts themselves are not made up of many panels. Around the waist there is a front panel, as I mentioned above, and one piece running round the back and down the legs. Then there are three shaped panels underneath on the outside of the chamois/seat pad, this cuts down on the amount of seems, there is only one down the back of each leg and ‘Y’ section underneath. The elasticated leg cuff is also made in one piece and has patterned silicone dots on the inside to hold them in place. There is an Assos logo on the right cheek and on the front of the left leg, as has always been their style.
Wide straps and leg grippers
Now the most important part of all shorts, the chamois/seat pad. The Assos pad is a sandwich of materials with a thin padded material next to the skin and two thicker pads where they are needed underneath and at the sit bones. There is a gap in the middle for ventilation and to relieve pressure on the under carriage. The pad is quite thick, but when you are sat on the saddle, the foam is compacted and there is no bulk, just comfort. It probably is amongst the best pads I’ve sat on. The Assos Mille GT bib shorts are available in four colours and seven sizes.

Assos Summer NS Skin Layer
The summer no sleeves ‘Skin Layer’ has a certain ‘wow’ factor. Yeah okay, it’s only a base layer, but it looks great. Basically (no pun intended) it is grey with vent holes that look like black dots, black stitching and edges to the arm holes. There is a rubber Assos logo in the middle of the chest with a black line running down to the waist. At the waist there is an elastic band to keep everything in place.
A great looking base layer
The Skin Layer has no sleeves, which is great for the warmer days and helps to keep the sleeves of your jersey smooth and aero. Assos give it a ‘Clima Code’ of 1/3, so it has high breathability and quick drying to take the sweat away from your skin. Assos also say it has low insulation, but I was glad of the extra layer last week on my ride in under 20ºC. As with all these base layers, it looks really small, but of course it stretches to fit and you want a neat fit. I usually wear a medium, which is called an ‘I’, there is three sizes: ‘O’, ‘I’ and ‘II’. A great look that you will want to show off.
A shame to cover it up
Assos Mille GT Wind Vest C2
I don’t ride in the rain these days, but I do get the occasional cold, early start and going into the hills in the spring and autumn, you don’t want to get caught out with a cold wind or a drop in temperatures. A wind vest or gillet that is light enough to fold up and go in a rear pocket is a must. The Assos Mille GT wind vest fits the bill. It weighs practically nothing and takes up no room in a back pocket.
Lightweight and folds up small
The wind vest has a nylon front and shoulders, with a mesh rear which is a little longer to cover your pockets. The front of the high collar is also nylon, but the inside and back is made of a soft elasticated material for comfort. The rear mesh is also stretchy to hold the vest tight so there is no flapping in the wind. There is a tiny rummer Assos logo on the left chest and a chunky Assos logo zip tag to make it easier to fasten and open the full zip. My only criticism would be that it doesn’t have a double zip as it is nice sometimes to undo your jacket past your stomach, but keeping it fastened at the chest. It has a very neat and comfortable fit and definitely keeps the cold wind off and could save you in a tricky cold temperature situation. There are five different colours and seven sizes.
Great fit and wind proof
Assos R Socks S11 – Twin Pack
Two pairs of Assos socks in one pack. White and not too high (18cm), my favourite. The R socks are very stretchy, more in the length and less in the width, so comfortable and with a good fit. A double cuff at the top to hold them up and smooth material at the toe and heel areas. The sole is also smooth with a ribbed section across the top of the foot. They are also marked ‘left’ and ‘right’ as there is a slight difference, mainly the Assos logo on the outside of the foot. There is also an ‘R’ on the top of the foot, which like the Assos logo, is stitched into the sock, not printed.
Not too high and very white
I wear 41.5 size shoes, the socks are marked 39-42 and they fitted me perfectly. They are very breathable and should keep my feet cool when the temperatures start going up. The R socks are available in black or white and the EF team colours. If you want more options the Endurance socks S11 has a choice of twelve colours and a low sock.

So how does the kit perform out on the road?
The weather is starting to look more like summer here on the east coast of Spain, so I’m very pleased that Assos sent me their Mille GT collection for 2026 to try out and they put a wind vest in the box. The mornings, in the shade and in the higher mountains, the temperature isn’t that warm, so a gillet or wind vest is great to have in a back pocket and the Assos vest fits really well, keeps you warm and is so small when folded up. The socks also fit well, no wrinkles, don’t fall down and also don’t cut off the blood supply to your feet. The base layer is one of the best I’ve worn and looks great. As I said before, Assos shorts are top quality; from the straps to the leg grippers and the chamois is just luxury. The jersey is a good fit and the material will come into its own in the hot weather. Slightly disappointed that there isn’t a zip pocket, but otherwise I can’t find any problems. Assos kit is one of the best bike clothing manufacturers on the market and that comes at a price, not cheap, but nothing is these days.
It was probably too warm for the wind vest – But the kit is HOT!

It is a vest with wind resistance of great transportability for moderate protection with minimal volume. This version is updated with a fabric that minimises noise, provides greater breathability and has lighter materials.
Behind the Product
We have improved our vest for long-distance routes by adding a less rigid wind-resistant front panel and a rear panel with a high-elastic grid that makes it easier for the vest to cover the body and reduce noise while increasing air circulation. In addition, its new elastic in the arm holes reduces restrictions and ensures that it does not overlap with those of the MILLE GT C2 Jersey for greater freedom of movement and comfort, which, in turn, eliminates friction between the layers. Finally, its ultra-light design and high transportability allows it to be put in your pocket when you don’t need it; and the new grid back panel reduces its weight to just 75gr (medium size).
